Faculty member at King Khalid University, Dr. Abeer bint Zahir bin Awad Al-Almai, in partnership with Engineer Abdul Moeen bin Saleh bin Abed Al-Sheikh, received a patent in the field of cybersecurity from the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property for their invention (Intelligent Security Safety System), which aims to provide a comprehensive, intelligent security system specialized in protecting industrial and petroleum facilities.

Al-Almai explained that the idea of the invention came after the noticeable increase in industrial accidents, which often end in loss of lives and resources. It was important to have a system that provides a quick and effective response to these risks Prof Abeer explained. She added the project began by monitoring current security challenges and anticipating the future, the focus was on developing advanced sensor systems and smart analytical software, to create a protection shield that can early detect and warn of any unexpected events and has protection systems against cyber-attacks. Regarding the advantages of the invention:  its shows that it can detect early threats and warn of risks by relying on advanced sensor systems and smart analytical software that work together to provide early detection of any threats or unexpected events that may lead to industrial accidents.

It is noteworthy that Prof. Abeer Alami is one of King Khalid University scholarship students from the Applied College in Rijal Alma’ at King Khalid University to study a doctorate in the field of cybersecurity.
