University President Attends Flag Day Talk

On Monday, the 13th of March, His Excellency the King Khalid University President, Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-Solami, attended a  talk titled "The Saudi Flag, Pride and Glory", held by the History Department of the College of Humanities. The talk was moderated by Dr. Hassan Al-Shawkani and included the participation of Dr. Muhammad Al-Maliki assistant professor in the Department of History, and Prof. Ahmed Al Faye, professor of history and the university's dean of Postgraduate Studies, who discussed the history and significance of the Saudi Falg and what it represents.

At the opening  of the talk, the Dean of the College of Humanities, Dr. Khaled Abu Hikmat, delivered a speech where he welcomed the President of the University, the panelists, and the attendees. He affirmed that the theme of the  panel’s discussion  is "The Saudi Flag," which represents our identity ,a beacon of our civilization, our history, and  our values.

During the discussion, Al-Fai addressed the Saudi flag and what it stands for in relation to the three reigns of the Saudi state's history. He described the flag as a powerful symbol that unites the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from its north to its south and from its east to its west.

On his part Al-Maliki, explained that the flag’s emblem in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has evolved through multiple stages, emphasizing the importance of institutional and individual commitment to it. Al-Maliki also stated that the subjective meaning of the Saudi flag and what it entails is a fertile field for writing and research. The talk was concluded by His Excellency’s honoring of the participants.
