In a recent accomplishment, King Khalid University's Bee Research and Honey Production Unit earned two international awards at the 2023 Paris International Honey Awards (PIHA), receiving Platinum and Gold honors for its liquid honey (Sidr) and crystallized honey (Majra honey).

Prof. Hamid bin Ali Al-Gharamah, Director of the university's Bee Research and Honey Production Unit, explained that this global competition is based on selecting the best honey in accordance with scientific standards and through ISO-accredited laboratories, where samples provided by competitors from all beekeepers in the world - both individuals and commercial enterprises producing bee honey - were carefully tested and examined.

Al-Gharamah stressed that this win is an international achievement added to the record of the 5 international awards won previously in this field.

It is worth noting, that the university's Bee and Honey Production Unit was founded in 1438 AH with the goal of advancing the development of the Kingdom's honey sector and its products through fundamental research and training programs, in addition to the transfer and extension of modern technology.
