University President Honors the 2022 KIWIE Gold Medal Winner

On Tuesday evening, King Khalid University (KKU) postgraduate student, Samyah
Fayez Al-Shihri was honored by His Excellency the President of KKU, Prof. Faleh
bin Rajaa Al-Solami for winning the gold medal in Korea International Women's
Invention Exposition (KIWIE) which was held recently in South Korea.

Samyah’s invention is represented in smart glasses designed to detect linguistic errors
and mistakes through a camera attached to the glasses. The glasses provide an
additional technology that offers optional linguistic suggestions displayed to the
reader by laser beams.

On the occasion Samyah expressed her gratitude to the wise leadership, the Ministry
of Education, and KKU for the care and support Saudi researchers and inventors are
receiving. She also appreciated the university president's instruction appointed to the
Creativity, Giftedness and Entrepreneurship Center to implement her invention,
stressing the importance of participating in international competitions to represent the
skills of Saudi women in the fields of research and innovation.


It is noteworthy that Samyah previously participated in several international events
where she obtained a Bronze medal in the Geneva International Exhibition of
Inventions in 2021 and a Silver medal in Moscow International Salon of Inventions
and Innovation Technologies “Archimedes” in 2019.
