There is an on-going efforts by the dean ship of Library Affairs of King Khalid University (KKU) to create a general and conducive atmosphere for the beneficiaries of the libraries under its control, and to provide the process of standard searching of materials in the facility, coupled with creating a comprehensive reading environment . Another reason for this improvement is because of the recognition of positive effect the contents of the library have in the provision of scientific and educational advances in the society.
The Dean ship of the library affairs, with the support and guidance of University President Prof. Abdurrahman Al Dawood, began refurbishing and restructuring the Central Library in the university main campus in Abha. The deanship also commenced the reorganization of library divisions and the preparation of various halls within the library.
Some halls are dedicated for special functions, for example the Internet hall, the free reading hall, a special one for manuscripts, a rare books hall, and a special one for specific library opportunities or functions. Others include a special place for curriculum related texts, a special hall for scientific publications by university faculties members, and a huge hall containing the scientific journals developed by faculties members.
This new improvement is undertaken for the need to create a relaxed atmosphere for reading. Thus, the library beneficiaries can spend useful time to benefit from diverse services provided by the deanship of the library.
KKU Libraries Affairs Dean, Dr. Saeed bin Qassem Al Khalidi, has asserted that the procedure of this new improvement will be applied to all libraries that are under the deanship supervision, whether in university colleges in Abha, or in other collages within the province.
