5th International Chemistry Conference at the University closes

11 experts from 28 countries attended

The 5th International Chemistry Conference ended yesterday at King Khalid University, in cooperation with the Saudi Chemistry Society, under the slogan ”Chemistry for a Developed Society and Stable World”.

The conference was heavily-attended by international personalities, 11 international experts from Britain, Germany, Belgium, and the United States of America, in addition to a number of Arab and Muslim countries.

In this regard, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference, Dr. Abdullah Al Hanash clarified that the university decided to organize the conference, in cooperation with the Saudi Chemistry Society, as a moral commitment, believing in its active role in activating conference and seminar tourism, particularly in Asir region, a touristic destination which needs to continuously present such important events and which are always sponsored by HRH, Prince Faisal Bin Khalid- may Allah protect him.

The conference was held with several aims in mind, the most prominent being presenting latest in research areas in various fields of chemistry, in addition to stimulating Saudi researchers to exert more effort in achieving the objectives of the National Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation (NSTIP).

The goals of the conference also centered on important issues, such as water, environment, oil and gas, and petrochemical and stimulation, biotechnology, nanotechnology, advanced materials, as well as building chemistry, natural products, medicinal chemistry, technology, modern analytical methods, modern applications of radiological and nuclear chemistry, modeling, computational chemistry, and chemometric chemistry.

The conference succeeded in establishing global, scientific partnerships with a number of researchers from Saudi Arabia, and the keynote speakers from a number of universities in the world in order to build on scientific research, and scientific work on the themes of the conference to obtain research output which is expected to meet the aspirations of the leadership and the National Plan for Science and Innovation.

It is worth mentioning that the number of participants in the conference reached 429, including 342 Posters and 87 Lectures from 28 countries. The conference included an exhibition of the participating posters, and a number of chemical companies, in addition to the participation of the Asir Photography Club with an introductory presentation about the region, its heritage and most prominent landmarks.
