Launching workshop "Measuring and Evaluating Governmental Performance in Asir"

His Excellency, King Khalid University President Prof. Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al-Dawood, confirmed that the university has a great responsibility toward community service, not as a matter of publicity, but for the sake of the region. He added that improvement could not be achieved without purposeful, constructive criticism.

His Excellency made this announcement during the opening of the events of a Workshop titled “Measuring and Evaluating Governmental Performance in Asir”, which was organized by King Khalid University, in the presence of the Vice-Presidents and the Assistants of Development Affairs, Administrative Development in Asir Emirate. The Secretariat of Asir, the Department of Education, the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Ministry of Health Affairs, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Saudi Electricity Company, the Water Company, Islamic Affairs, the Labor Office, the Red Crescent , the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Abha, the Ministry of Transport, the Youth Welfare Office, and the Ministry of Social Affairs participated.

Al-Dawood added that the responsibility of the university is common between all government departments, and shown by holding workshops and meetings to identify advantages and disadvantages, as well as discussing issues with full transparency and clarity.

He also talked about the basics of the objectives of the university, which lie in education, scientific research, and community service. He believed that the university has not yet achieved its vision regarding community service.

He revealed that an awareness, cultural, health, and social meeting will be held at the end of this month at the governorate of Tathleeth, similar to the meeting which was held last year at Tuhammah Qahtan, which proves that the university spares no time, effort, and money in arranging such annual programs. .

The university has plans that it seeks to achieve, such as embracing the mobile clinics which offer their services for free in the summer.

The University President concluded, urging everyone to support the region with all they can in the field of work, whether in Higher Education (university) or different governmental sectors in order to help the region to rise to its potential. He also welcomed the cooperation of everyone, confirming that the university is an integral part of any government department or the private sector.

The Chief of the Study Team, Dr. Mohammed Bin Yahya Al- Mezher, reviewed, in the first session, several issues such as strategies, executive planning, administrative development, and facilitating procedures, in addition to the management and development of human resources.

They then talked about a number of pillars in the second session, which was headed by the Executive Supervisor of the study, Dr. Abdullatif Bin Ibrahim Sabri, who talked about beneficiary services, interaction, and communication with the community, in addition to the better exploitation of available resources, the culture of work, professional ethics, creativity, and excellence.

It is worth mentioning that the workshop is a result of an initiative and a proposal of the Institute for Research and Consulting Studies at the University.
