In his private capacity, and on behalf of the university employees (officials, teaching staff) and students (males & females), His Excellency the University President, Prof. Abdulrahman Bin Hamad Al-Dawood, expressed his gratitude and thanks to His Excellency, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, for his Royal Decree to establish new three universities that will join the structure of Higher Education, a matter close his heart.
Al-Dawood said, "The Custodian of the two Holy Mosques cherishes the human improvement and scientific development of the citizens of our dear homeland. This Royal Decree proves this reflects the continuous support with regard to science and students around the Kingdom. On announcing the decree to declare Bisha an independent University and naming it “Bisha University”, Dr. Al Dawood confirmed that,"King Khalid University has received great care - like other Universities - under the auspices of the wise leadership of the Kingdom since its inception fifteen years ago. A result of this great care was the spread of its branches in a number of areas in the southern region of our beloved Kingdom. Campuses in Jazan and Najran were turned into two independent universities that contribute scientific value among prestigious universities. Leadership continued the support of the university until the number of colleges exceeded fifty, spread over fourteen provinces in the Southern Region of Saudi Arabia., regularly educating more than seventy thousand students (males and females) . This royal decree transfers King Khalid University’s Bisha branch into an independent University called ”Bisha University”. This university includes thirteen colleges distributed across Bisha, Al Namas, Balqarn, and Tathlith. It is considered the second university in Asir Province. The decision reflects the sharp vision of wise leadership".
He added, "The decision enhances the capabilities of both universities to apply academic quality standards, and take care of perfecting plans and programs. It also gives them greater opportunity for improvement and development, focusing on the quality of output and excellence, and spreading higher education in all regions and provinces consistent with the development plans of this generous country".
The KKU President confirmed that the university and its employees sincerely praise the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the Crown Prince on this historic decision, and appreciate the efforts and guidance of His Highness the Prince of Asir Province, His Royal Highness, Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, who was behind every achievement and excellence. Furthermore, Al Dawood thanked His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, who takes great care of King Khalid University.
Dr. Al Dawood prayed that Allah keep the welfare of this ountry and people, and protect its leadership and security.
