University Council Approves Numerous Issues

His Excellency, the King Khaled University President and the Vice Chairman of the University Council, Professor Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al Dawood, headed the seventh University Council meeting, which was held on Tuesday 01/06/1435 AH.

He began proceedings by praising Allah, prayers and peace be upon His Messenger. All attendee’s appreciated the honoured royal decree nominating His Royal Highness, Prince Muqrin Bin Abdul Aziz, as the deputy to the Crown Prince, blessing this nomination and asking Allah to help His Highness in serving the nation.

His Excellency and the members of Council also expressed their condolences to former member of the University Council and the current President of Al-Jouf University, Professor Ismail Bin Mohammed Al-Bishri, on the death of his sons, calling on the Almighty for mercy for the dead and to inspire patience and solace to Al-Bishri and his family.

The Secretary of Council reviewed topics on the agenda, starting by briefing Council on the resolutions taken by the President that are pending authorization from Council. The resolutions included the nomination of teaching staff in the university colleges and scholarships for over 20 scholars (male & female). As evidence of cherishing creativity and innovation in the university environment, Council recommended approving unifying the Talent and Creativity and Knowledge Business Management Centers under a new Deanship, titled the "Deanship of Talent, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship."

As part of the university’s vision to provide opportunities for society to obtain postgraduate qualifications, Council approved the "Fundamentals of Islam, Sunnah and its Scientific Specialization" doctoral study program at the university.

To increase communication with international universities and research centers, and to exchange experiences and expertise, Council approved a sabbatical for Prof. Amer Shahrani to the United States and Dr. Ali Autef to Morocco. Council also approved a scientific communication program between the UK and Dr. Saad Al Omari and Dr.Ali Al-Shati.

Concerning ​​adding to the experience of the teaching staff, Council approved the appointment of Prof. Mohammed Al-Baredi to the teaching staff of the Sharia College.

Finally, Council approved the formation of a Scientific Research Deanship council for two years.

The next Council meeting will be held on Wednesday 23 / 6 / 1435 AH (23 / 4 /2014 AD).
