King Khalid University, Media Center

The University Scouts, represented by a number of students from different colleges, participated in a workshop titled "Peace Messengers 2". The trip was organized by the Saudi Arabian Scout Association for university scouts in Saudi Arabia in conjunction with the coordinators of the "Peace Messengers" project and attended by different scout sectors at the World Scout Center, Kandrastej State, Switzerland, from 28/5 to 04/06/1435 AH.

The "Peace Messengers" project aims at developing knowledge and skills and introducing the areas of the project to participants that lead scouts to carrying out their role effectively, both locally and internationally. The delegation was trained by international experts in the field of scouting on the 5 pillars of the project: Peace, Dialogue, Health, the Environment, and Conflict Resolution.

The training programme included topics related to peace regarding its definition, importance, and social issues that could be handled by skills relating to peace. They also learned about planning and building "Peace Messengers" projects, environmental and health issues, and how to handle these issues. Another topic was the local and international "Peace Messengers" strategy, and training sessions about self-improvement.

It is noteworthy that King Khalid University participated in the start of the "Peace Messengers" project, which was launched by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in 1432AH and was funded and supported by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz - may Allah protect him- to the amount of more than 20 million Saudi riyals.
