A report issued by Scientific Research Deanship at King Khalid University revealed a double increase in Scientific Research Budget during the last five years in addition to the university planning to achieve annual growth in scientific research budget by nearly 30% annually over the forthcoming years.
The report pointed out that the number of published scientific researches to the teaching staff in the university during the years 1432 and 1433 AH reached about 2,213 scientific research out of them about 45% are published in scientific journals classified (ISI), Science College got the first place among a List of colleges with 480 research , followed by the Sharia College with 180 search , then Medicine College with 150 research , and about 538 research published during the academic year 1433/1434 AH. Also, the report revealed the achievement of a number of teaching staff in getting 15 patents resulting from their scientific researches during the year 1433 AH , and about 38 international and national awards for their research accomplishments including scientific departments in colleges like College of Medicine , Science College , College of administrative and Financial Sciences , and Engineering College.
Concerning research centers and institutes and scientific chairs, their numbers has doubled from 5 centers in 1419 to 22 research centers for scientific, humanities and applied colleges by the end of 1434 AH. Also, the university currently has two scientific chairs, the chair of King Khalid bin Abdul-Aziz, which was founded in 1427 , and chair Prince Faisal bin Khalid to cherish youth inventions and innovations, which was established in 1434 AH , in addition to the university, based on approved Regulations, proceed a study to a number of requests presented from a number of entities and individuals to take care of specialized scientific chairs , such as Prince Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Chair to study the history and culture of the southern Arabian Peninsula , community partnership chai , a scientific chair rationing and improving the treatments of circulation palaces to the hip joint for patients with sickle cell anaemia, a chair for Research on nanomaterials , a chair of advanced batteries Research , chair of materials efficiency in electronics industry research, a chair of coatings and paints research , a chair of Technology and food Chemistry research , a chair of advanced water oxidation Technology and solar energy , a chair of solar Energy Research , SABIC research chair .
For the research laboratories, the report pointed out that the university has a large number of research laboratories with educational and research nature, and contributing to the support of scientific research outputs. They include laboratories for advanced materials, and organic, bio chemistry, medical and engineering of all kinds , the centre of animals test, and laboratories specializing in information systems and remote sensing.
The report said that the university issued five specialized arbitrated, scientific magazines. They are educational science magazine , Shariah magazine, Human Sciences magazine, Applied and Engineering Sciences magazine, and Medical Sciences magazine.
