University Rector Attends University Seminar Hosted by the Minister of Education

His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, attended a meeting with His Excellency, Minister of Education Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh, and other university leaders at Princess Nourah Bint Abdul Rahman University. The Rector participated in workshops and seminars, which will have a positive and immediate effect on university education in the Kingdom.

Rector Al-Solamy stated that topics covered included university organizational and operational structures in universities, budget efficiency spending, and transforming higher education. The ultimate goals are to improve the quality of education and administration in a cost-effective manner. This is a core objective of Vision 2030 and a key component of the nation's future.

The Rector also said that the university will be working closely with the Ministry of Education on various initiatives. The parties will collaborate on expanding and improving standardized testing and focusing on desired educational outcomes through the Center for Measurement and Evaluation.

The Rector also noted that the university developed 85 programs of study for various degrees from undergraduate diploma to doctorate. It also developed its organizational structure and merged several departments. The colleges of sciences and arts were merged into the university system and the community colleges restructured. The university has also strengthened internal controls and its practices to ensure high performance and efficient spending.

Rector Al-Solamy added that these symposiums contribute to the achievement of the organizational goals and strategic plans to maximum effect. He noted that cooperation between and among institutions inure to the benefit of all. The Kingdom supports higher education and it is a perennial top priority for contributing to national development. The Rector thanked His Royal Majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, may Allah protect them, for their patronage of the Kingdom's universities.
