Asir Governor sponsors university small-and-medium-sized enterprises symposium.

His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the Governor of Asir Region, is sponsoring small and medium enterprises symposium under the new regime of companies. The symposium is going to be organized by the Corporate Governance Center at King Khalid University. It will take place in Abha Palace Hotel, from 27 to 28 of the current month.

The Rector of King Khalid University (KKU), who is also the General Supervisor of the symposium, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, has appreciated the Governor's sponsorship of the symposium, which comes as part of His Royal Highness's concern for supporting the activities and scientific programs of the university. Rector Al Solamy added that the symposium aims to introduce the Corporate Governance Center at King Khalid University, to activate the relationship between the center and both the Ministry of trade and Industry and the public Authority for small and medium enterprises, in addition to introducing the new system of companies, as issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, especially with regard to small and medium-sized enterprises. The symposium further aims to provide a deeper understanding of the desired role of the establishment of the General Authority for small and medium-sized enterprises, and how these enterprises could contribute to the national economy.

On his part, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Dr. Sultan Al Farah, explained that the presence of His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid - the Governor of Asir Region - was a great honor, not surprisingly, he is always interested in supporting the university in particular and the region in general. Dr. Al Farah stressed that the symposium was not only serving the region, but also all those interested in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Al Farah also said that a number of speakers, specialists and academicians would attend the event, and the symposium would be accompanied by a number of training workshops. He used the occasion to thank His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, for his support and permanent follow-up.

It is noteworthy that the symposium will discuss a number of topics including the new system of corporates issued by the Ministry of Trade and Investment, and the new system of companies and its impact on the national economy. Other topic of the symposium include identification of the most important obstacles and problems that may affect small and medium enterprises when applying the new system of companies, the expected economic impact after applying governance on small and medium enterprises, the role of the Saudi Council Chartered Accountants (SOCPA) in the application of the new system of the companies, the focus of the role of organizational and supporting entities for small and medium enterprises, the role of the General Authority for small and medium enterprises and the challenges they face. Other areas of focus of the symposium are, the most important initiatives that support small and medium enterprises, the reality of small and medium enterprises, the prospects for development in light of Vision 2030, successful experiences in small and medium-sized enterprises, the most important difficulties and challenges faced by small and medium enterprises, the role of small and medium enterprises in economic development, and the last pivot is about the role of Saudi universities and academic institutions in achieving entrepreneurship.
