Rector inaugurates Tebian project for the prevention of extremism.

His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University (KKU), Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, has inaugurated the 2nd version of Tebian project for the prevention of extremism, and the accompanying exhibition. The event is organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, in cooperation with the King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue. The venue of the event is in the University Headquarter in the central terraces, and its activities will last for three days.

On the occasion of the inauguration, His Excellency the Rector explained that Tebian project was one of the successful projects that Staff of the university is proud of, and it was arranged in collaboration with the King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue. The Rector further confirmed that the project touched the students' needs. His Excellency said, "Topics that will be discussed in the project are important and worthy of debate and dialogue." He added, "workshops, discussions, lectures, and training courses should not be confined to this project, but the topics of this project should be discussed in lectures of faculty members, especially at a time when Saudi Arabia is exposed to several campaigns of malevolent, and the enemies of religion" His Excellency the Rector ends his statement by thanking King Abdul Aziz Center for National dialogue.

For his part, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Merr'a bin Saad Al-Habash, said that Tebian project came within one of the most important intellectual activities, which promotes values of moderation and which fights extremism and fanaticism. Dr. Al-Habash also showed that the project sought to promote the culture of dialogue to be spread among university students. It also aims to discuss social, cultural, political and other national issues, and to put it through intellectual channels of dialogue, as well as encouraging students to contribute and participate in this dialogue, and providing an appropriate environment for it, so as to prevent students from deviant ideas and extremist groups. The project also aims at the consolidation of dialogue and understanding language while addressing intellectual problems, in addition to discussing all relevant items displayed on the Internet networks in order to educate the youth, and to prevent them from destructive ideas, in addition to repelling the instigators calls on terrorism. It will also enable the youth to harness their abilities and powers just for the sake of the nation and the society.

The Director General of the Academy of National Dialogue for training and opinion polls at King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue, Prof. Ismail Al Omari, has extended his gratitude to King Khalid University on its permanent cooperation and on taking the responsibility to hold such useful events. Prof. Al Omari stated that there would be two additional projects about the digital media and fanaticism.
