The King Khalid University (KKU) president, His Excellency Prof. Dr. Falah bin Raja Allah Al Solamy, has lately launched in his office, the e-portal of female students’ transportation. The launching was in the presence of the vice president of female colleges Dr. Saad bin Du’ajim and a number of employees from the vice presidency, from transportation administration and from information technology administration.

During the launching, His Excellency the President was briefed about the functions and services of the system. He was informed that the system works on completing the transportation procedures and facilitating the submission of applications. In addition to that, the system enables the beneficiaries in making decisions, like selecting itineraries, depending on the number of beneficiaries' requests, and observations on the driver and the vehicle. Moreover, it will provide the transportation administration with the necessary reports from the beneficiaries by viewing their observations and opinions through the e-portal. This will reflect on achieving a better transportation service.

The system aims to facilitate the registration procedures for students who want to register in the service. The access to this service will be available during the academic year and it will not be limited by specific time. It also aims to organize the transportation mechanism by limiting the number of beneficiaries of the service electronically. This will help the transportation administration to provide buses in the same line direction or update a new itinerary. In addition to that, instead of paper archives, the information of drivers and buses will be saved on the system, as well as the measuring of the satisfaction of the beneficiaries.

The system is featured by issuing boarding card which includes information about the itinerary and beneficiary student. One of the other system’s features is enabling the students to provide an excuse in case of not attending the class or being late because of the bus. At the same time, the system will give the deans and the person in charge the permission to access the portal and to accept or to reject the excuses.

His Excellency the Rector, has expressed his delight on the university advancement in electronic and technology fields, pointing out that the most prominent goals of the university is turning into electronic transactions. He has clarified that the university could take advantage of the transportation statistics; especially in provincial centers that are far from the university colleges in major cities which will enable the university to find the nearest point for students, or to develop campuses in those centers and the provinces. He has also directed to provide free food service at buses especially in remote areas. He also stressed on the need to study the biography of every driver, and to make sure their biographies are free of precedents in cooperation with the concerned authorities.

It was mentioned that the itineraries served by the transportation administration has reached nearly 180 lines, and the farthest point reached by buses is about 150 km, while the number of beneficiaries are more than nine thousand students.
