University organizes a workshop on communication networks and social values.

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, the Rector of King Khalid University (KKU), and on the sidelines of the National Festival for Heritage and Culture events (Janadriah 30), Information and Communication Department of the University arranges today (Monday) a workshop entitled "Social networks and the matrix of values in society" The workshop is under the supervision of the Head of Media and Communications department, who is also the General Supervisor of Afaaq newspaper, Prof. Dr. Ali bin Shuweil Al-Qarni. The event takes place in the Abha Palace Hotel, where 40 students from the Media and Communications department will participate in the workshop, in addition to a number of university students.

The supervisor of the workshop, who is also the Head of the Department of Information and Communication at the University, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Qarni, explained that the workshop was being held at the selection of the National Festival for Heritage and Culture to King Khalid University to be the headquarter of the workshop. He said, "In the context of interest for Heritage and Culture Festival Dates expand the scope of its interests and the distribution of its activities on the various regions of the Kingdom, the holders of the festival chose King Khalid University to organize a workshop for the students of the University who have media attention, particularly new media. Moreover, the Rector Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, asked for supporting this event in which the students of the Department of Information and communication participate" Al-Qarni added, "Choosing such a topic of the workshop is a distinctive idea because it addresses the subject of values in the society and how the uses of social networking affect these values"

The workshop will be conducted on two sessions, and will include three axes which will deal with how to promote social networking to strengthen the values matrix in a society and to enrich the cultural scene in the Kingdom. The second axis deals with challenges being faced by society's values through the absence of social responsibility in the social networks. The third axis deals with the aspirations of young people in the next phase, the areas in which young people see that the focus is on them, as well as research in the best ways to deal with young people in terms of cultural affairs at the current stage. The workshop aims at activating the partnership between the National Festival for Heritage and Culture on one hand, and the King Khalid University on the other hand, and the enhancing of communication with young university in order to establish a common cultural mobility that takes into account the aspirations of young people, and discuss their visions and their problems through dialogue and discussion, so as to be able to move forward and understand the current stage and its requirements, as well as to get out with convictions, practical ideas, and with new visions, to find out what matters to the youth in particular, and to the society in general.
