The King Khalid University Vice - President for the Academic and Educational Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Alhassoun yesterday sponsored the activities of the international day of the white stick. The celebration was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Direction and Guidance Unit of the Deanship.

The activities of the celebration had many sections, including an activity called "Live the Moment". Through this activity, the attendees were briefed on how to use the white stick. In addition, there was a recitation section, presented by two blind students - Ahmed Alalmae and Abdullah Almae. Also presented during the celebration was a section about challenging difficulties and directions. The section aimed to show to the community the abilities of the blind. The section also showed how the blinds have special abilities that enable them to encounter difficulties and to create things to overcome their circumstances. The celebration also included a section named "Mobile challenge for the blind and the intact".

The white stick is a symbol. It indicates that the person who carries it is blind. Carrying this stick makes it easy for a blind person to live properly, and it enables people to deal with him properly. The white stick enables the blind to identify the kind of the ground he or she walks on. Therefore, he or she will be able to identify all obstacles that may hinder his or her way, thus be able to protect himself or herself from any obstacle.

It is noteworthy that all countries of the world celebrate the white stick day on October 15 of every year.
