Information Technology takes its experience to Stanford.

IT General Directorate

The General Directorate of Information Technology (IT) has recently participated in the Drupal Camp 2015 conference at Stanford University, California. The Directorate has shared its experience with the participants at the conference through displaying the myKKU project. The Conference is interested in displaying the achievements of the Website of Stanford University and other special services provided by the website. In addition, some international universities and companies that are specialized in providing web services and information technology have participated in the conference.

The worksheet submitted by the King Khalid University, among a large number of other worksheets was nominated because of its distinctive and advanced services that the University, represented by the IT Directorate, has provided in a programmatically - innovative way. The worksheet of King Khalid University is entitled "Using SOAP Web Service with Drupal Views". It discussed the innovative technology developed by the University Information Technology to connect the channels of communication (Web Services), which are related to databases with Drupal so as to display smoothly and simply, using Drupal Views. This is done without affecting the way followed at the mean time, to insert the currently-approved data. The worksheet also discussed myKKU project as a model of a portal for universities and organizations of higher education. The project provides services that help the student, the employee, and the faculty member of the university, all gathered in one place and with a single sign-on for each user. Moreover, the muKKU project is displayed through a simplified interface in order to ease the user's access on what he / she needs of the web services that are offered by the university. myKKU project got appreciation from the Information Technology Directorate of Stanford University. So, a communication channel between the Information Technology Directorate of King Khalid University and the Web Administration of Stanford University in order to exchange web consulting and experiences in the future projects is being established.

The participation of King Khalid University came within the IT Directorate's efforts to expand its participation on a global and local level, and to exchange experiences and to consult with expertise and information centers in order to achieve the ultimate benefit of experiences, to follow international standards, and to keep up with new technologies.
