Asir Governor sponsoring the 3rd meeting of the history of King Khalid.

His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, The Governor of Asir Province and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Khalid chair for scientific research, is sponsoring the opening ceremony of the third scientific meeting of the history of King Khalid Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud - may Allah have mercy on him. The meeting is under the title "scientific and cultural movement in Saudi Arabia during the reign of King Khalid ", and it is being organized by the King Khalid University from 12 to 13 of this month. The meeting is taking place in Abha Palace Hotel, in Abha.

Upon the arrival of the Prince to the opening ceremony, the ceremony began with recitation of some verses from the Holy Quran. Then, the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood gave a word in which he explained that "the King Khalid University undertakes significant responsibilities with regard to the processes of education and research, as part of its research and educational responsibilities to the community, and as a part of its community service". The Rector further stressed on how it was so important to gather efforts to harness all human and material resources so as to keep up with the march of progress and development, which is being supported by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz - may God protect him - and traced by this country's leaders since the reign of the founder King Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, may God have mercy on him. The Rector indicated in his speech that one of the important responsibilities of the university was the scientific chairs, including King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz Chair for scientific research, which the university was working on supporting its activities, research and scientific events, and its publications. In addition, the University was cherishing the Chair by holding scientific meetings, including that third meeting which would be followed by other scientific meetings - God willing. Al-Dawood said, "The reign of King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz was characterized by a lot of achievements at various political levels, scientific and cultural development levels, and other fields that served all segments of the society. Depending on this point, the organizers of the King Khalid chair for scientific research have the determination to achieve the objectives for which this chair was established, including highlighting the King Khalid's efforts and his role in the process of development and growth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to shedding light on the cultural and civilizational achievements that were done during his reign; documenting those achievements scientifically through publication arbitrated researches, in addition to supporting studies and scientific meetings, lectures, and other educational activities " The rector further stated that that forum would discuss the scientific, cultural and media movement in all their dimensions in Saudi Arabia in an important period, which contributed to a major paradigm shift in those areas.

After that, Dr. Bandar Al Sewailem addressed the gathering with a review of King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud's life - may God have mercy on him - and his contributions to support scientific and cultural movement, as well as internal and external strategic plans of the time of his reign. Al Sewailem pointed out what the participants in the meeting contributed, with their writings and scientific researches, in enriching the meetings of the forum, in order to inform the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on those efforts and achievements in that prosperous reign.

For his part, the supervisor on the chair, Dr. Ahmad bin Yahya Al Fayaa explained that scientific participation exceeded 55, with 42 of them being scientific research. At the end of the ceremony, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz honored the former supervisor on the chair, Dr. Hassan bin Yahya Al-Shawkaani. Then, His Royal Highness received a commemorative gift. After that the occasion was closed.
