King Khalid University, Media Center.

King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs has ended carrying out maintenance, restoration, and cleaning of 8 mosques in Asir Province. It was through a voluntary campaign launched earlier under the slogan "Our mosques are our frontage".

The project was activated by training a number of youth volunteers from inside and outside the university. They have been introduced to religious benefits that would accrue to them as well as conducting the work as a seed to a wider work during the next phase.

Amazingly, volunteers finished all the maintenance work that passed through three stages. In the first phase, they cleaned 6 mosques, providing them with all what they lack. The volunteers in this phase cleaned the carpets, walls, ceilings, as well as cleaning sinks and toilets. Moreover, they purchased a large number of electric Burners, Holy Quran holders, plastic chairs for the elderly, vacuum cleaners, in addition to providing a number of water coolers, plastic cups, wipes, water, and the last verses of forgiveness and remembrance brochures.

The second stage included the maintenance of 2 mosques, by repairing the refrigerators, the renewal of the WCs, in addition to repair of all the broken glass windows. There was also the installation of new water taps and a total plumbing and electrical maintenance. In the third and final phase, 200 brochures about voluntary work were distributed in order to stimulate and encourage the community to voluntary work, and show them how and why it is necessary and important to look after the mosques. They also distributed more than 300 remembrance cards.

On the occasion, a student Nora Toak, thanked the university for its ongoing support for such services provided to the community. She said, "It is our duty to take care of the houses of God, which is considered a frontage to our Islamic society."
