University and the Quality of Life Program 2030 Organize a Workshop to Enhance Integration in Architectural Education

King Khalid University, represented by the College of Architecture and Planning, organized an interactive specialized workshop in collaboration with the Quality of Life Program 2030. The workshop aimed to integrate quality of life concepts into architectural education by reviewing objectives, practical applications, and conducting field visits. The event took place at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh.
Dr. Mohammed bin Jawad Al-Shaib, Head of the Department of Architecture and Planning, explained that the workshop witnessed active participation from faculty members, including the Vice Dean for Female Students, Dr. Ola Al-Haqan, along with Prof. Doaa Abu Al-Majd, Dr. Mujib Al-Rahman Abu Amer, and Eng. Ghassan Al-Sarihiyy. Students from the college also engaged with urban planning experts, exploring architectural design practices, urban planning, and quality of life applications.
Dr. Al-Shaib highlighted that the workshop discussed several rich topics related to finalizing project ideas, contributing to students' skill development and increasing their awareness of sustainable architectural practices aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
The workshop was accompanied by a series of field visits to leading urban and cultural projects, providing students and participants with direct exposure to sustainable urban design applications and modern urban development practices. The visits included At-Turaif District in Diriyah, King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), King Fahd National Library, Palace of Culture, The Lab at MISK, and King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD).
This workshop is part of the College of Architecture and Planning’s ongoing efforts to enhance the integration of academic curricula with practical and field applications, aiming to prepare a new generation of architects capable of creativity and making meaningful contributions to urban development in accordance with sustainability principles and quality of life standards.
