KKU Students Secure First and Second Places in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's Water Hackathon

In a new achievement under the supervision of the Deanship of Student Affairs, King Khalid University students won first and second places in the Water Hackathon, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, which concluded its activities in Riyadh.
The Dean of Student Affairs at King Khalid University, Dr. Ali bin Musfer Al-Qahtani, explained that this distinguished participation affirms the university's support of students’ innovation and scientific capabilities. The university participated with two student teams that were able to achieve advanced positions among 33 teams, competing to develop digital solutions to develop the water sector in the Kingdom.
In detail, Al-Qahtani explained that the student team "AquaSol" won first place and a prize of 150,000 Saudi riyals. The team includes students Yazan Abdullah Al-Shehri, Abdulwahab Khalil Al-Shaikhi, and Abdulaziz Abdulhai Al-Ghamdi. The project's idea is to develop innovative digital solutions that contribute to addressing water challenges by using solar energy, based on high-efficiency designs, with the possibility of low-cost implementation.
The "Waterfy" team, which includes students Abdulmajeed Saeed Al-Obaidi, Abdullah Abu Maala, and Abdulaziz Al-Nahdi from King Khalid University, in addition to Nawaf Al-Ahadal and Ibrahim Al-Juhani from King Abdulaziz University, won second place among the competitors and a prize of 100,000 Saudi riyals. This was in recognition of their participation in their innovative project in the field of water conservation using artificial intelligence, which provides an innovative solution for smart irrigation management, relying on artificial intelligence to automatically update irrigation schedules, contributing to achieving higher efficiency in water consumption.
