King Khalid University Signs Strategic Agreements to Enhance Research, Innovation and Sustainable Development

In line with its ongoing efforts to strengthen academic and research cooperation and support innovation and sustainable development, King Khalid University signed several strategic agreements with prestigious academic, health and research institutions, at the Future Outlook Forum "Universities and Sustainable Development," which the university is hosting to discuss the role of higher education institutions in building a knowledge economy, developing human capital, and developing societies in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 and the Asir Region Strategy "Qimam wa Shiam"; which aims to achieve integration between universities and relevant parties to promote innovation and scientific research, and align education outcomes with development requirements, with the participation of an elite group of speakers and experts from within the Kingdom and beyond.
These agreements included a Memorandum of Understanding with Jazan University, aimed at strengthening research cooperation and the exchange of knowledge between the two universities, where the agreement included areas of joint research, supervision of graduate studies theses, exchange of academic visits, and the establishment of joint research training programs, in addition to coordination in organizing scientific events and conferences. The agreement was signed by King Khalid University President, His Excellency Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-Solami, and the President of Jazan University, Prof. Mohammad bin Hassan Abu Raseen.
A cooperation agreement was also signed between King Khalid University and the UNESCO Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education, with the aim of developing research and academic partnerships, and enhancing the exchange of experiences in the areas of capacity building, technical consultations, and organizing conferences, workshops and training programs, in addition to cooperation in research projects and publishing in internationally classified scientific journals. The agreement was signed by King Khalid University President, Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-Solami, and the Director General of the Center, Dr. Abdulrahman Ibrahim Al-Mudaires.
In the health field, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the University and the Asir Health Cluster to enhance cooperation in medical education, training and scientific research, where the agreement allows the training of students of health colleges at King Khalid University in the health facilities affiliated with the Asir Health Cluster, in addition to implementing joint scientific research, developing preventive and therapeutic programs, and developing human resources in the health sector, and the memorandum was signed by the University President, Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-Sulami, and the CEO of the Asir Health Cluster, Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdulkarim Al-Arifi.
In a step towards promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, the University concluded a cooperation agreement with the Saudi Innovation Club to support innovation programs and initiatives, where the agreement included organizing workshops and training programs in design thinking, supporting entrepreneurial projects, establishing innovation laboratories within the university, in addition to developing innovative solutions that meet the needs of the local community and achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, and the agreement was signed by the Director of the Design Thinking Center, Dr. Nayef Muhammad Jabli, and the President of the Saudi Innovation Club, Engineer Majid Muhammad bin Anzan.
The forum also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Center for Environmental Research and Sustainability of Natural Resources at King Khalid University, and the Global Association for Sustainable Development in the United Kingdom, with the aim of strengthening research cooperation in the areas of sustainability, launching joint educational and training programs, and organizing global conferences, in addition to the joint publication of scientific studies and the exchange of experiences between academics and researchers in the field of sustainable development.
