As part of King Khalid University's participation in the Asir Region Pavilion at the 9th edition of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival 2024, the university presented a comprehensive model reflecting its deep connection to national heritage and its pioneering role in leveraging scientific research to serve culture and national identity. The university's participation notably focused on the cultural aspect within the Asir Region Pavilion.
In this context, a series of events and lectures were held to highlight the historical, scientific, and economic significance of camels. One of the key lectures was titled "Camels: Scientific Heritage, Modern Research, and Cultural and Economic Presence," delivered by Professor Dr. Hamid Al-Ghurama (College of Sciences) and Dr. Issa Al-Mustaneer (Department of Media and Communication, College of Arts and Humanities). The lecture explored the multifaceted dimensions of camels and their pivotal role in economic development, national culture, and related scientific fields.
Additionally, the university organized another lecture titled "Camel Brands: Between History, Identity, and Art," presented by Dr. Ali Marzouk (College of Arts and Humanities) and moderated by Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Safran (College of Education). This lecture discussed the historical aspects of camel branding, its role, and its evolution as a cultural practice.
The pavilion witnessed significant interaction from visitors of various groups, with informative programs and diverse presentations showcasing the university's efforts—and those of other participants—in connecting heritage with scientific research to promote cultural and economic values. This distinguished presence embodied the university's leadership as an academic and cultural institution supporting national initiatives aimed at strengthening identity and elevating cultural awareness.
