King Khalid University Hosts Mental Health and Quality of Life Forum

His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-Solami, inaugurated the “Promoting Mental Health and Quality of Life” forum, organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Vice Deanship for Student Services, at the central library in Al-Fara'a. This event aligns with the university's commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of its students. The forum witnessed a remarkable turnout of university faculty, staff, and students.

His Excellency commenced the event by touring the exhibitions, where he reviewed the contents of the wings presented by internal and external entities. He was briefed on the initiatives and services aimed at promoting mental health and quality of life. The tour also included an overview of the university's efforts, in collaboration with partner institutions, to provide psychological and social support to students, as well as an overview of a number of programs focused on psychological rehabilitation and health awareness.

In his speech on behalf of the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Vice Dean for Student Services, Dr. Jubran Yahya Makhdi, praised His Excellency the University President for his support of such initiatives, emphasizing that the university attaches great importance to mental health as a fundamental part of its student-centered strategy. He also noted that the university stage is full of challenges that require everyone to provide a supportive environment that enhances student well-being and supports their academic journey.

The forum featured a visual presentation of excerpts from the work of the university's Mental Health Promotion Committee, highlighting its efforts to provide psychological support and mental health care within the university. A number of interactive and awareness workshops were also held, including: "Psychological Vulnerability and Its connection to Behaviors," "Hazardous Behaviors and Suicide Prevention," and "Meditation and Relaxation," which were well-received by participants and provided valuable information on ways to promote mental health and cope with daily pressures.

The forum concluded with His Excellency the University President honoring the members of the university's Mental Health Promotion Committee in recognition of their efforts in making this initiative a success. The ceremony also included honoring the supporting and participating entities from inside and outside the university, including the Mental Health Hospital, the Southern Armed Forces Hospital, the Asir Forensic Toxicology Department, and a number of specialized rehabilitation institutions.

It is worth noting that the forum comes within the framework of King Khalid University's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life within its academic environment. Through these initiatives, the university seeks to provide a comprehensive educational and health environment that meets the mental and social needs of students, contributing to improving their academic and professional performance and building a student community characterized by mental health and stability. The university is also working to design and implement comprehensive programs that enhance individual well-being and instill a culture of mental and social balance, supporting their academic and institutional journey and empowering them to face the challenges of the future with confidence and efficiency.
