With the Participation of its International Students, King Khalid University Celebrates the International Day for Tolerance and Launches Several Programs

Under the patronage and in the presence of His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Professor Dr. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Solami, the university, represented by the Intellectual Awareness Unit, organized a panel discussion titled "Saudi Arabia: A Nation of Tolerance and Moderation." The event took place today, Sunday, at the Exhibition and Conference Center in the University City of Al-Fara'a, drawing notable attendance from academics and international students. The event coincided with both the International Day for Tolerance and the International Students' Day, as the university also launched a series of diverse programs set to continue throughout the week in celebration of the occasion.

The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Ahmed Al-Murayeh, Supervisor of the Intellectual Awareness Unit and CEO of the Applied College. He led the discussions on the concept of tolerance and its importance in building societies. During the session, Dr. Musaad Al-Qahtani from the College of Sharia and Fundamentals of Religion delivered a segment titled "Tolerance: The Guidance of Prophethood," where he highlighted the Islamic values that lay the foundation for the principle of tolerance in human and social relations, presenting shining examples from the Prophet's biography.

Professor Dr. Saeed Al-Shahrani, Advisor to the University's Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs for Scholarship Students, contributed with a segment titled "Characteristics of Tolerance in Saudi Society and Its Impact on International Students." He noted the significant positive influence of tolerance in strengthening cultural relations between international students and their peers from the Kingdom. Dr. Ali Al-Qutub, Director of the Asir Region History Center, also presented a segment titled "Examples of Tolerance in Our National History," highlighting key features of tolerance that marked pivotal moments in the history of Saudi Arabia since the establishment of the first Saudi state, showcasing inspiring examples of the country's leaders' tolerance.

Through the panel discussion "Saudi Arabia: A Nation of Tolerance and Moderation," the university affirms its commitment to instilling values of tolerance and moderation in its students, embodying its pioneering role in promoting human principles and building a conscious academic community. These efforts align with the university's strategy to support Saudi Vision 2030 through initiatives that enhance the Kingdom's status as a global beacon of tolerance, with a focus on cultivating national and human values through its activities and programs.

It is worth noting that King Khalid University hosts around 2,500 international students representing over 85 nationalities from around the world.
