University President Inaugurates Specialized Medical Services Exhibition on World Spine Day

The Acting President of King Khalid University, Prof. Saad bin Mohammad bin Dajam, inaugurated the Integrated Medical Services Exhibition organized by the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Abha, on the occasion of World Spine Day. The event took place at the university campus in Al-Fara'a, with the attendance of the university's vice president for administrative affairs, the dean of the college, faculty members, staff, and students.
The exhibition aims to provide a comprehensive package of specialized health services to university staff, including prevention, treatment, and awareness of the importance of spinal health and back pain. These services include advanced guidelines for preventing back pain, accurate spinal examinations, follow-up in physical therapy clinics for appropriate rehabilitation, as well as various imaging services such as X-rays, CT scans, and ultrasounds. Specialized laboratory tests, including hemoglobin, urea, creatinine, blood sugar, and uric acid, are also provided.
During his tour of the exhibition, the Acting University President commended the efforts of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Abha in providing integrated health services aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among university staff. He emphasized the importance of such events in raising health awareness in the university’s community, noting that the university pays great attention to the health of its members through such initiatives that reflect the university's commitment to providing advanced and comprehensive healthcare to all its staff. He also praised the effective cooperation between the college and the Deanship of Student Affairs in the success of this event.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Abha, Dr. Majid bin Saad Al Fai’a, explained that this exhibition is part of a series of events aimed at promoting public health and preventing diseases related to the spine. He pointed out that the services provided are in cooperation with several specialties, including physical therapy, medical laboratory sciences, radiology technology, audiology, and speech-language pathology, emphasizing the importance of this interdepartmental partnership in providing comprehensive healthcare.
The tour included an introduction to the various health stations, as well as visits to participating clinics that provided direct examination and diagnosis services for attendees. Specialized medical consultations were also provided by specialists on site, and brochures and awareness materials were distributed highlighting ways to prevent back pain, while emphasizing the role of physical activity and a healthy diet in maintaining spinal health.
