University Students Earn Fourth Place in Maida Mahdi Nadher Innovation Hackathon

In a new accomplishment for King Khalid University students, the student team "Vision" earned fourth place in the quality of life improvement track for the visually impaired and the elderly. This achievement was part of the Maida Mahdi Nadher Innovation Hackathon, held at Dar Al-Hekma University.
The Dean of Student Affairs at King Khalid University, Dr. Ali bin Mosfer Al-Qahtani, explained that the university presented 3 student teams out of a total of 31 teams from 15 Saudi universities. The "Vision" team earned fourth place out of the thirty-one teams. Additionally, the "Tuwaiq" and "Aoun" teams from the university participated in the Arabic language revival track within the hackathon. He added that the students’ participation represented a pioneering step in supporting student talents in the field of innovation.
Al-Qahtani explained that the "Vision" student team includes students Mubarak Saeed Al-Shahrani, Wahj Faisal Al-Asmari, Abdullah Mishbab Al-Hammad, Waleed Mohammad Al-Hamoud, and Hallal Faisal Ali. The students worked on a comprehensive technical application that provides services for the elderly and the visually impaired, divided into two sections. It offers services to assist with household chores, reminders for medication, and assistance with indoor and outdoor mobility. It also includes smart sensors to monitor safety in emergency situations.
The Maida Mahdi Nadher Innovation Hackathon aims to enhance competitiveness and develop young talents by supporting innovation and encouraging students to develop innovative ideas to provide sustainable solutions. The hackathon lasted for five days and included workshops and mentoring sessions for participants. It is noteworthy that the Wadi Makkah Investment Company adopted the winning projects in the hackathon.
