Universities’ Chess Championship Kicks off Tomorrow at King Khalid University

King Khalid University will be hosting the 2024 Saudi Universities Chess Championship for female students tomorrow, October 23 2024, and will last until October 26. The championship is organized by the Saudi University Sports Federation under the Ministry of Education.

More than 140 female students from 30 universities will participate in the event, which aims to enhance skills, develop abilities, and encourage female students to pursue their hobbies.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ali bin Mosfer Al-Qahtani, extended a warm welcome to the participating delegations. He expressed his gratitude to all organizing committees for their continuous efforts. He also commended the great cooperation of all team officials and their eagerness to participate in the competitions, which attracted a large number of students and universities. Al-Qahtani expressed that he hopes the championship will succeed in promoting chess, which significantly benefits female students by enhancing their mental and physical activity.

For her part, the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for Female Students, Dr. Areej Al-Buhair, emphasized that the championship is part of the events supervised by the Ministry of Education, represented by the Saudi University Sports Federation. These events encourage female students of all age groups to pursue their hobbies, expand the base of chess players, and foster a spirit of healthy competition among students. She noted that such championships play a crucial role in enhancing interaction among female students and creates a supportive environment that encourages their participation in cultural, sports, recreational, and intellectual activities.

It is worth noting that King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, hosted the 1445 Saudi Universities Chess Championship for male students last year, which achieved great success.
