King Khalid University Hosts International Nursing Simulation Conference

King Khalid University, represented by the College of Nursing in Abha, launched the first International Nursing Simulation Conference in Asir. The two-day event, held on October 7, 2024, at the University's Exhibition and Conference Center in Al-Fara'a, was attended by the university's acting president, Prof. Saad bin Mohammad bin Dajam, vice presidents, deans, international experts, and nursing students. The conference aims to enhance nursing education and training through realistic simulation, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030's goals for education and healthcare development.
In his opening speech, the acting university president emphasized the importance of advanced education and training in building a bright future for the nation. He highlighted the conference's role in achieving excellence in education and healthcare, and in empowering academic and professional staff in line with Saudi Vision 2030. Bin Dajam stressed the university's commitment to enhancing health education and developing clinical skills to ensure sustainable health security and exceptional community service.
The dean of the College of Nursing in Abha, Dr. Aida Sind Al-Qarni, explained that the conference aims to improve clinical skills by providing a safe learning environment based on simulation. This, she added, will foster the exchange of experiences and the development of new educational strategies to enhance the effectiveness of nursing training. The conference targets nursing students, practitioners, managers, and researchers to enhance their skills and update their knowledge, contributing to improving the quality of healthcare.
The conference featured a distinguished group of international experts who enriched the scientific content and promoted learning and interaction among participants. The event included panel discussions, interactive workshops on simulation applications in nursing, skill development, and quality improvement in healthcare, with the participation of eight speakers and 166 attendees. Additionally, ten scientific sessions were held, during which 27 research papers were presented. The conference also showcased a film demonstrating the use of artificial intelligence in nursing to highlight the latest technologies in healthcare.
At the end of the first day, the acting university president and the university's vice president for graduate studies and research, Prof. Hamid bin Majdou' Al-Qarni, honored the speakers and participants in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the success of this event.
The conference focuses on providing interactive and realistic simulation-based learning experiences that enable practitioners and nursing students to handle complex medical cases in a realistic and safe manner. This equips them with the necessary skills for real-world challenges and improves the quality of care provided. The conference is a significant scientific contribution that enhances King Khalid University's position as a leading institution for research and education in the region and aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to develop the healthcare and education sectors in the Kingdom.
