King Khalid University Launches Two Micro-Degree Programs in Partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology

King Khalid University has announced the launch of two micro-degree programs as part of the Micro-Degree Programs Initiative, one of the initiatives of the Human Capacity Development Program – a program under Saudi Vision 2030. This initiative is undertaken by the National Center for E-Learning through the FutureX digital education and training system, with the aim of enhancing national competencies and equipping them with skills that align with the rapid changes in the job market.
The university explained that the programs include data analysis and financial technology, noting that the data analysis program is in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. It provides comprehensive training that covers all stages of data analysis from collection to presentation of results. It equips trainees with basic knowledge about data, its types, and how to collect it. It also focuses on how to formulate research questions and make decisions based on data. Additionally, it provides trainees with the necessary skills to analyze data and make data-driven decisions, starting from the data collection stage to the presentation of results.
The university clarified that the program duration is 26 weeks, with a total of 172 actual hours, and includes 6 courses (Fundamentals: Data Everywhere - Sharing Data Through the Art of Visualization - Asking Questions to Make Data-Driven Decisions - Preparing Data for Exploration - Processing Data from Raw to Clean - Analyzing Data to Answer Questions).
The university stated that the financial technology program, which is also in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, aims to understand and utilize modern technology in the financial sector. It covers a wide range of topics, including risk management, cybersecurity, government regulation, technological innovations in finance, and data protection.
It also addresses tools and technologies such as cryptocurrencies, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and their applications in the financial industry. The program focuses on providing trainees with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by modern financial technologies.
The university explained that the program’s duration is 26 weeks, with a total of 49 actual hours, and includes 5 courses: (Financial Technology Security and RegTech - The Future of Payment Technologies - Explaining Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrencies - Capital Raising: Credit Techniques, Token Offerings, and Crowdfunding - Innovations in Investment Technology: Artificial Intelligence).

The Micro-Degree Programs Initiative aims to launch 350 micro-degree programs in partnership with universities and business owners in specialized sectors over four years. This reflects the interest and direction of the Kingdom's leadership and its aspirations in line with Saudi Vision 2030 towards developing national cadres.
