King Khalid University’s Asir History Center Organizes Various Programs and Events to Celebrate the 94th National Day

The Asir History Center at King Khalid University organized a series of celebratory events on the occasion of the 94th Saudi National Day. In cooperation with the King Abdulaziz Endowment, the center organized a historical exhibition at the university’s Al-Fara’a campus exhibition and conference center. The exhibition featured 30 panels that chronicled the journey of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its development over the years. The exhibition was attended by the Acting President of King Khalid University, Prof. Saad bin Mohammed bin Dajam, and the university’s Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Hamed bin Majdou’ Al-Qarni, alongside a number of university employees, guests, and visitors.

As part of the program, a history seminar was held in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz Endowment, titled “The National Day: A Historical Journey and a Bright Future,” which was moderated by Dr. Ali bin Saleh Al-Amri, a faculty member in the Department of History and Archaeology at the university. During the seminar, Dr. Mohammed Al-Malki, a faculty member in the Department of History and Archaeology, presented a paper on the “National History and the Royal Journey.” Dr. Mohammed Al-Qahtani, the deputy dean of the deanship of research and graduate studies for research and innovation, discussed the topic of “Developmental Achievements.” Dr. Muflih Al-Qahtani, advisor to the university president and general supervisor of the public relations department and official spokesperson for King Khalid University, highlighted the Kingdom's interest in culture and heritage. Dr. Arij Al-Asiri, dean of the College of Computer Science, discussed the topic of “Future Vision.” Dr. Nasser Al-Qamishan, advisor to the Governor of Asir, director general of community development at ASDA, and chairman of “Aba’a” Association for Orphans, concluded the seminar by presenting a number of success stories at the regional level.

A discussion session titled “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Depth of Dimensions and Leadership of Roles” was held alongside the main celebration held at the Al-Fara’a campus. The session was attended by the acting president of the university, alongside the deans of dental colleges in the Kingdom who were holding their 39th meeting at the university, as well as a number of university faculty and students.

The discussion session was moderated by Dr. Ali bin Saeed Al-Qahtani, dean of the College of Medicine, who welcomed the attendees and expressed the university’s pride in this national occasion, praising the Kingdom’s leading role in various fields. The session included contributions from a select group of academics and specialists. The discussions covered several key topics, including the Kingdom’s contributions to spreading Islamic and Arabic culture on a global level. Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Qarni, dean of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, presented a paper in which he highlighted the prominent role played by the Kingdom in promoting Islamic culture and tolerance worldwide.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mousa, advisor to the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, presented a paper in which he discussed the importance of tolerance and intercultural dialogue in promoting understanding between people, highlighting national initiatives in this area. Among the speakers was also Dr. Amal Al-Mushayt, head of the Asir branch of the Saudi Geographical Society and associate professor of geography, who spoke about the strategic dimension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its pivotal role in the region, pointing to the developmental initiatives that enhance the Kingdom’s position on the international stage. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Ali Awadh Al-Qatb, director of the Asir History Center, presented a history note that addressed the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, historical contexts, and the importance of preserving national heritage.

After the end of the interactive sessions, the Acting President of King Khalid University, Prof. Saad bin Mohammed bin Dajam, honored the speakers and participants in the seminar, expressing his appreciation for their valuable contributions to the success of this national event and emphasizing the importance of this program in enhancing national awareness and engaging with cultural and historical issues that form our national identity.
