The Governor of Asir Inaugurates the “Digital Saudi Day” at the University
King Khalid University - General Administration of Institutional Communication
Under the patronage and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Asir, the university hosted the Digital Saudi Day. The event was attended by the Governor of the Digital Government Commission, Eng. Ahmad bin Mohammad Al-Soyan, and the Acting President of King Khalid University, Prof. Saad bin Mohammad bin Dajam. 20 government entities participated to highlight digital transformation achievements and showcase various e-services.
The event commenced with a speech by the Governor of Asir, in which he expressed his appreciation for the support and empowerment provided to the digital transformation sector by our wise leadership. He extended his gratitude to our leadership for all the success we’re witnessing in the region's digital transformation projects.
Followed by a speech by the Governor of the Digital Government Authority, Eng. Ahmed Al-Soyan, in which he praised our leadership’s immense support of digital transformation. In addition to the efforts made to provide the best services to citizens, residents, and visitors to enhance competitiveness, and increase the efficiency of government work.
The Acting President of King Khalid University delivered a speech in which he explained the university’s focus on building a sophisticated digital infrastructure and using modern technologies. He expressed his pride in hosting the Digital Saudi Day at the university, and noted that the university has achieved an outstanding record in national digital transformation indicators and aims to maintain its leading role and excellence.
The Digital Saudi Day event in Asir witnessed the launch of three digital transformation initiatives: two at King Khalid University, namely the Open-Source Software Laboratory for Data and Artificial Intelligence, and the launch of the third version of the electronic portal, as well as the launch of the "second version of the Business Intelligence Platform" for Bisha University.
The event included five panel discussions, four presentations, and eight workshops with the participation of experts, specialists, and government leaders, focusing on the importance of user experience design in the success of digital transformation initiatives, data management and its role in enhancing decision-making, digital products provided to the Asir Region, the impact of digital transformation on beneficiaries in the Asir Region, as well as digital solutions, initiatives, and the impact of technologies and digital transformation on the tourism, industry and mining, human resources and social development, communications, space, and technology sectors.
Alongside the Digital Saudi Day event, an exhibition showcased the latest technologies for the public and private sectors. It attracted a significant and remarkable turnout from all around the Asir Region. They praised the latest national technologies and innovations that enhance the digital experience for beneficiaries and improve the quality of life.
To conclude the event, the Digital Government Authority presented licenses for government software repositories to the following entities in the Asir Region: the Emirate of Asir Region, the Asir Region Municipality, the Asir Region Development Authority, King Khalid University, and Bisha University. The host and participating entities from the public and private sectors were also honored.
It is worth noting that the "Digital Saudi Day" is part of a series of events held in various regions of the Kingdom to expand the scope of digital initiatives, showcase the journey of digital transformation and success stories in various sectors, and enhance cooperation between the private and public sectors, thus contributing to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
