King Khalid University recently concluded the "Design Thinking for Kids" camp, organized by the Design Thinking Center at the Business Center. The camp was held over a three-day duration and included the participation of 25 children and aimed to enhance children's design thinking skills, develop their critical and creative thinking abilities, improve problem-solving skills, promote communication and teamwork, and provide an enjoyable and interactive educational experience.

Dr. Naif bin Mohammed Jabali, the director of the Design Thinking Center, explained that the camp was the result of joint efforts by a creative team at the center in collaboration with various university departments. He noted that the idea originated as an extension of the successful Design Thinking Hackathon for student clubs at the university. The camp included a variety of activities and programs aimed at achieving several goals, most notably introducing children to the concept and stages of design thinking, developing critical and creative thinking skills, enhancing problem-solving abilities, and promoting communication and teamwork skills.

The event concluded with the recognition of the participating children, showcasing their projects and outstanding work, reflecting the skills and abilities honed during the camp. Professor Abdul Latif bin Ibrahim Al-Hadithi expressed his pride and happiness with the children’s achievements, emphasizing the importance of developing thinking skills from a young age and their impact on academic excellence and independent problem-solving capabilities. He appreciated the collaborative efforts of all participating entities in the camp’s success and thanked the organizing team for their dedication and creativity in arranging this event.

It is noteworthy that the camp aligns with the objectives of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the Human Capability Development Program, in addition to the university’s 2030 strategy, which also aligns with the strategy for the development of the Asir region, focusing on human development, place enhancement, and economic strengthening.
