Acting University President Honors Volunteers in International Humanitarian Work and Hajj Service 1445H

The Acting President of King Khalid University, Prof. Saad bin Mohammad bin Dajam, honored the professors, employees, and students’ who made distinguished efforts to enrich the university’s volunteering system. The honoring included participants in international volunteering programs under the supervision of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, in addition to 90 student volunteers from various colleges of the university who participated in serving pilgrims during the Hajj season 1445H, under the supervision of the General Department of Volunteering and Community Partnership at the University Agency for Works and Community Partnership. The honoring ceremony was held at the Business Center in Al-Fara'a.

In his speech, the Vice-President for Business and Community Partnership, Prof. Abdul Latif bin Ibrahim Al-Hudaithi, stressed the importance of this ceremony, saying: "We are here today to honor a group of professors, employees, and students who made distinguished efforts to enrich the university's volunteering system." He added: "Professors from the College of Medicine participated in international volunteering programs under the supervision of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid in the fields of pediatrics, intensive care, general surgery, neurosurgery, and plastic surgery. We also honor a group of university students who made great efforts in this year's Hajj in the fields of healthcare, translation, crowd organization, and pilgrim guidance."

Al-Hudaithi highlighted the spirit of giving and the noble human values of the Saudi citizens, leadership, and government. Pointing to the immense efforts made by the kingdom to serve humanity, Islam, and the visitors of the Holy Mosque. He explained that King Khalid University understands the global impact and the role it plays within this contribution.

He pointed out that the university holds the third place among educational entities with the highest number of volunteers, and the third among universities in the number of volunteers in Hajj this year. He added: "We are working on forming volunteering teams capable of supporting and assisting. We will also expand participation in volunteer work locally and internationally”.

For his part, the General Supervisor of the General Department of Volunteering and Community Partnership, Dr. Musfer bin Mohammad Al-Asiri, confirmed that the participation of university students in the Hajj season comes in three fields, including healthcare, translation, and crowd organization and management. Students of the health colleges contributed to healthcare, while students of the College of Languages and Translation performed translation and guidance tasks, and students from various colleges participated in organizing and managing crowds.

Al-Asiri added that the volunteering team provided exceptional services in these fields, in cooperation with the specialized authorities. He stressed that the university's participation in serving pilgrims comes annually, reflecting the university’s national role and the importance of this contribution alongside various sectors.

To conclude the ceremony, the Acting President of the university honored the participants for their contributions, praising their great efforts and urging continued support for these distinguished initiatives.
