University President Inspects 'Formula 1 for Schools' Program in Quraiqir

King Khalid University, represented by the Entrepreneurship Center of the University Agency for Business and Community Partnership, has announced the hosting of the (Formula 1 for Schools) program in the Asir region, which is sponsored by Saudi Aramco, represented by the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra). The program will be held over the span of 6 months at the university campus in Quraiqir.

The (Formula 1 for Schools) program is one of the most prominent international educational programs, which targets students in the Kingdom. It aims to raise awareness of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects, and works to inspire students through a unified methodology.

His Excellency, President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaallah Al-Solami, inspected the program, and praised the exceptional work. He met with the program's managers, and stressed the need to provide the utmost care and support for the participating students.

On her end, Dr. Nada Al-Asbali, supervisor of the program, explained that the program covers topics such as physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacturing, branding, graphic arts, sponsorship, marketing, leadership, teamwork, as well as media skills and financial strategies. Students then apply what they have learned in a practical environment filled with creativity and competition, simulating Formula 1 teams on a smaller scale.

She added that the program includes 5 teams, each consisting of 6 male and female students. The teams are Desert Knights, Ibex, Cheeta, Eva, and Araleo. They are supervised by a number of trainers and coaches in various engineering, administrative, and marketing specialties at the university. She noted that the five teams will first compete at the level of the Asir region, after which three teams will qualify to compete at the level of the Kingdom alongside 18 teams from 6 cities. After that, the best three teams will be crowned to represent the country in the global competition of the (Formula 1 for Schools) program.
