A Professor at the University operated a surgery using Robot technology.

The Consultant of Kidney and Urinary Tract surgery, and the Laparoscopic Assistant, and the professor in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine of King Khalid University Dr. Abdulaziz Awad Alomari has performed a number of surgeries which are which is considered the first of their kind in the southern region. The operations have been conducted in Asir Central Hospital, and they are unique because of the use of the new technology -"Surgeon Robot".

Dr. Omari explained that there were a number of cases that had been treated by the Surgeon Robot technology, including cases that were undergone to partial nephrectomy when they discovered a tumor with the size of 4 × 3 cm. The doctor indicated that all patients were discharged from hospital after spending a period of convalescence without mentioned complications.

On this issue, Dr. Omari indicated that the advanced technology of the Surgeon Robot named "Davenci" "is considered the latest scientific techniques to perform surgeries by "Robots". He added, "The advantages of using laparoscopic surgery for the patient in general and robots in particular, is the small size of the wound, the lack of post - operative pain, speed healing, God willing, and the convalescence period after the operation". He reported, "Inside the operation room, this new technology relies basically on the booming in computer and information technology that have occurred over the past two decades." He further added, "This technology provides surgeons with a three dimensional vision, and accurate details, through which they could have a clear image of the place they are working on."

Moreover, the new technique provides surgeons with two advantages while performing accurate and complicated surgeries: the first is the flexibility of movement in all directions and angles, which the human hand lacks. Using the new technique is capable of getting rid of tremor, involuntary movement that might impede efficiency and good execution. Then second advantage is the amount of bleeding, which is much less than the traditional operations. "

It is noteworthy that many doctors of different specialties have participated in the program of the operations. They include Dr. Maher mu'zzin the Consultant of Urology, Dr. Said Abu Sarhad, the Specialist of Urology, Dr. Mohammed Al Yazidi intern doctor, and Somaya Abdel Moneim the Consultant of Anesthesia.
