SABIC Honors KKU Masters' Graduate with Saudi Universities' Innovation Award

During a visit to the university, a delegation from SABIC awarded Ramzi bin Hamid Harharah, an MSc holder the "SABIC Saudi Universities' Innovation Award". The award was accepted on his behalf by his father, Prof. Hamid bin Harharah, for his masters' thesis in chemical engineering, (Artificial Wastewater Treatment Using Membrane Technology under Different Operating Conditions).
His Excellency, University President, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaallah Al-Solami, commended such collaborative visits that promote expertise exchange; he stressed how collaboration between the university and the private sector is crucial for a proactive impact.
His Excellency stressed that SABIC is one of the leading companies that support the research field in Saudi universities. He added that the "SABIC Saudi Universities' Innovation Award" as an important initiative that promotes creativity and originality in research, coinciding with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
He continued; KKU has unique capabilities and benefits. It provides the ideal environment for creativity and innovation, and is dedicated to the enrichment of graduates' abilities and its research output by providing advanced and modern facilities.
Attendees of the event enjoyed a visual presentation by the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Dr. Basim bin Abdullah Al-Alwan, where he highlighted the research and academic leaps of the College of Engineering. Al-Alwan, highlighted the newly established bachelor's programs, the Mining Engineering Program, and the professional Safety Engineering Program.
The College of Engineering earned top positions in recent rankings, most notably the Times and the Shanghai Rankings. It also launched a scientific journal called "Frontiers in Engineering and Built Environment". As well as receiving ABET and NCAAA certifications for engineering programs, and a partnership with the Radio Amateur Society.
The college also established eight new Masters' programs,
- Construction Projects Administration.
- Electrical Engineering.
- Chemical Engineering.
- Mechanical Engineering.
- Civil Engineering.
- Renewable Energy and Environment.
- Fire Safety and Prevention Engineering.
- Engineering Management.
The college also organized an international summer training program at Purdue University in the United States, and the University of Berlin in Germany. Additionally, it completed students' training at reputable training entities, such as SABIC and ARAMCO and the Royal Committee in Al-Jubail and Yanbo'. The College of Engineering acts as a model of success, through its implementation of strategies and goals that align with the Kingdom’s national vision. Among the College of Engineering’s recent achievements are the Educational Cube Satellite, unique programs that meet the needs of the job market, partnerships with leading entities, and the international conference.
It is worth noting that the delegation included the following representative from SABIC,

- Dr. Mohammad Al-Hazmi, Director of Operational Excellence.

- Mr. Ahmed Al-Babtain, Communications business Partner.
- Mr. Khalid Al-Duawihi, Senior Analyst of Executive Protocol.
- Mr. Fahad Al-Jarid, Senior Analyst of Social Responsibility.
The delegation was also accompanied on a tour in the University City where they visited the university’s administrative and educational facilities, and KKU research center.
