University Concludes the Global Game Jam Event

On Saturday, the 4th of February, King Khalid University concluded the international event in the field of video game development, Global Game Jam.

The General Director of the General Administration of the Information Technology (iT) at King Khalid University, Dr. Hamid Al-Qahtani, explained that the event is international and is held annually in the field of developing and designing video games, where a theme is chosen each year, and all participants have to develop a game with different ideas that fit the theme of this international event.

He added that the event aims to enhance the skills of students of King Khalid University in the field of video game development, where the number of applicants, in this year's version, reached more than 200 students from the university, 45 of which were accepted. The participants then were divided into 6 groups, each group developed a game within a period of 72 hours, the process included scriptwriting, level & sound designing, and programming. After that, came the evaluation of all created games by a committee specialized in this field, who were members of the iT Administration.

This year's event was held at King Khalid University for the third time, where it was originally held in 2018, and again in 2022.

It is worth noting, that the event was held in cooperation between the Deanship of Student Affairs, the General Administration of the iT, the Electronic Games Club, the Digital Games Association, in addition to the Artificial Intelligence Club.
