On Sunday, the 1st of January, the King Khalid University Council held its fifth
meeting for the academic year 1444AH, in the presence of the Secretary-General of
the Universities Affairs Council, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Saleh and the
council members.

The Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research - Secretary of the
University Council - Prof. Hamid bin Majdoua Al-Qarni, explained that the council
discussed a number of topics and issued necessary recommendations. Al-Qarni added
that among the most prominent recommendations issued by the Council was the
approval of issuing a scientific journal under the name "The Saudi Journal for
Medical Education" and forming its editorial board. The council also approved of re-
forming the editorial board of "Frontiers in Engineering and Built Environment"
journal, in addition to approving the amendment of the name of the fee-paid Master of
Biology program from "Environmental Management and Conservation of Natural
Resources" to "Environmental Management and sustainability of natural resources",
approving the conversion of students of the Bachelor of "Pharmaceutical Sciences"
program into a "Doctor of Pharmacy" program, as well as restructuring the
university's research and service centers, and approving the recommendations of the
two investment committees.

The Council also agreed to send, extend and attach a number of teaching assistants
and lecturers, appoint and retire a number of university lecturers, assistant professors,
and associate professors, in addition to granting Masters and Ph.D. degrees to a
number of graduate students.
