University Organizes Community Event Commemorating International Stuttering Awareness Day

On Friday the 28th of October and on behalf of the University President, Vice
President of Educational and Academic Affairs, Prof. Saad bin Dajim, launched the
International Stuttering Awareness Day event at Al-Rashid Mall in Abha. The event
was organized by the university's College of Applied Medical Sciences in Abha in
cooperation with the General Administration of Education in Asir. During the event,
Bin Dajim toured the booths companying the event, which were involved in supporting this group of
people.


Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Abha, Dr. Majid Al Nafi',
explained that the event aimed to raise awareness on the stuttering disorder, unite
efforts to educate the community, educate on how to treat people with speech disorder
as well as support overcoming speech difficulties. Further, visitors of the event were
introduced to the best methods to follow when communicating with stammers.


It is worth noting that the university pays great attention to stuttering speech disorder,
which is embodied by many efforts, such as establishing a research speech disorder
unit and providing undergraduate programs specialized in the field of Pathology and
Audiology.
