22 Worksheets enrich the International Conference for Media and Rumor's first day.

The first day of the International Conference for Media and Rumor, which was sponsored by the Emir of Asir region, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz and organized by the Information and Communication Department of King Khalid University, has included four sessions, during which 22 worksheets were presented, in addition to participation of a number of governmental sectors and national companies. Moreover, on the first day, there was an open session which was attended by His Highness the Prince of the Province.

The 1st session

The first session tackled the topic of "legitimate authentication of rumor". On this topic, four worksheets were presented: the first worksheet entitled "The social and security dimensions of the rumors: the Islamic vision", was presented by Mr. Osman Mohamed Osman from the Islamic University in Malaysia. Mr. Osman spoke about the Islamic point of view of, and the instructions to fight, rumors, in addition to the practices that have been applied to deal with rumors. The second worksheet was presented by Dr. Mukhtar Mahmoud Atallah from King Faisal University. It is entitled "Scientific Thought development of the individual in the light of guidance from the Holy Quran and its impact on facing rumor". The worksheet dealt with how it is possible to use the methodological rules in the Holy Quran to form the scientific thinking of the individual, in addition to the development of critical spirit. Thus, an individual can face rumors, as being false statements that cannot stand in front of the proof, which is an authentic Quranic requirement.

The third worksheet, which was presented by Dr. Munira Abu Hamama from King Khalid University, carried the title of "Rumor promoters' punishment in the Islamic jurisprudence". She explained that Islamic law has considered rumor as a sin, and it must be pursued judicially, but it depends on its legitimate status, and in many cases, it is considered a crime, and there are other cases that make it an offense, while there are other cases making it a punitive crime. The fourth worksheet, which was presented by Dr. Omar Abdulrahim Rababa'a from Balqa University in Jordan, was entitled "How to deal with the rumor during crises and disasters from an Islamic perspective."

The 2nd session

All worksheets of the second session tackled the topic of "Rumor and Communication," The first worksheet was from Dr. Lutfi Mohammed Ziadi of King Faisal University, and it is titled "Marketing by Rumor" or " viral marketing ".

The second worksheet, which was presented by Prof. Tahani Abdulrazek Bahussein of the Islamic University of Imam Muhammad bin Saud, is entitled" "Free space communication and its impact on the rumor growth in social networks; analytical study for the relations between the level of the spread of rumors and news."

The third worksheet was from Dr. Adib Ahmed Shatery of the University of Aden, Yemen, and it is titled "The role of the communicator in facing rumor.. Empirical models of Islamic history,"

The fourth worksheet was presented by Prof. Salma Shabab Al-Mutairi from the Media Department of King Saud University. It is entitled "A proposed strategy to activate community partnership to face rumors via the modern media."

The 3rd session

The third session entitled "Concepts and Definitions," provided four worksheets. The first one entitled "Rumor: a passive communicative Activity " was by Dr. Samia Boubacar Ghazouani from King Faisal University. The second worksheet was by Dr. Essa Aslon from the Global Institute of Media and Communication, Morocco. It is entitled "Rumor between the cognitive ambiguity and Media function." The third worksheet was presented by Mr. Abdul Aziz Bin Saeed Al Khayat of King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology, and it was bout "rumor: its definition, objectives, types, sources", and the fourth worksheet was presented by Prof. Rashid Saeed Al-Ahmari of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. It is entitled "The Impact of rumor on the transformation of societies."

The 4th Session

The fourth session carried the title of "the role of Saudi institutions in fighting rumors". The session was heavily attended by a number of representatives of governmental sectors and national companies and institutions. It included three aspects: 1. Models and case studies from firsthand experiences, 2. Communicative and media methods which are commonly used in the dissemination and promotion of rumors, and 3. Ways to confront the rumors."

It is noteworthy that the following personalities participated in the fourth session: Dr. Fayez Al-Shehri from the Shura Council, Dr. Khalid Marghalani from the Ministry of Health, Mr. Saad Matrafi from Al-Arabiya Channel, Major-General. Saleh Al-omari from the Ministry of Defense, Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Jarallah from the Ministry of Higher Education, Mr. Abdulrahman Sultan from the Saudi Food and Drug Administration, the media Professional Walid Faraj from mbc Action channel, Mr. Hamdan Al Shaibani from the Capital Market Authority, Ms. Rehab Abu Zeid from Aramco Company, and the Professors Ahmed Alvahilh and Ahmed Al-Farhan from the Ministry of Education.
