the University Agency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research and the Scientific Journals and Societies Unit signed an agreement to sponsor and support the university journals with the international publisher (Emerald), The supported journals included the University's Journal of Linguistic Studies, Business and Finance Magazine, and Pioneers in Engineering and the Built Environment Magazine.

The agreement comes within a number of initiatives launched by the agency that aims to support the university's scientific publishing, to be internationally classified and qualitative scientific journals to serve researchers in all disciplines, also through this agreement 50% of the scientific journals issued by King Khalid University will be published through an international publishers, so this will take the university's journals to the global databases within the next three years.

Emerald is one of the ancient publishing houses in the world and it is specialized in supporting scientific journals and promoting them quickly, so they become eligible to join scientific journals with scientific influence globally, and it is worth noting that nearly 90% of the journals affiliated with Emerald are found in the well-known global database (ISI).

Abdullah bin Ayed Asiri, Supervisor of the Scientific Societies and Journals Unit, says:” the agreement includes providing full technical support for the scientific journals included in the agreement, as well as providing specialized workshops to introduce the mechanisms of the scientific publication that are held annually to benefit researchers and interested employees in the university”.

The university's scientific journals development project is expected, by the end of 2020, to completed the launching of all the initiatives for the scientific journals and societies unit, this is by creating websites with international standards for all scientific journals, designing a program for editing and managing scientific journals, as well as preparing a guide for creating scientific journals at the university.
