The Deanship of E-learning at King Khalid University announced the statistics for the first week of the Fall 2020 semester. The statistics included the login of 2,480 faculty members and 54,196 students distributed across 14,569 sections.
Dean of E-learning, Dr. Naif Jabali, explained that the current educational process at King Khalid University is electronic. He praised the response of faculty members and students in facing the change to an online learning environment, noting that reports pulled from Blackboard showed 13,206 virtual sessions in which the number of participants reached 257,028.
The Deanship of E-Learning offered several courses to train faculty members and students for the Fall 2020 semester. They included the E-Learning Practitioner Course to 272 faculty members and Using Blackboard Collaborate Ultra to 25 faculty members. Student-centric training sessions notably included a course on preparing students and required courses to start online teaching to 497 faculty members, the Effective Use of BlackBoard to 119 faculty members, and ten courses for freshmen students, benefiting nearly 5,000.
Of note, the Deanship of E-Learning designed five informative infographic designs for students and two for faculty members. It also offered 12 training packages for students and posted 233 educational videos on the Tamkeen YouTube channel for faculty members and 44 videos for students. The channel reached 33,537 views in the first week.
In terms of support, the Deanship offered 700 technical support services through the phone, 500 through WhatsApp, 100 through the Deanship's office, and 34 through emails. 40% of these services were for faculty members and 60% for students.
