Study and Exam Procedures
Study and examination procedures at King Khalid University during the second semester of 1441 AH in light of the decision issued by the Ministry of Education.
First: Education process
The educational process is to continue in an effective , quality manner, until Thursday 8/30/1441 AH, according to the calendar approved by the Royal court.
Second: Midterm exams:
Midterm examination are to continue according to nature of the subject through the following methods :
-Evaluating students during the course of the distance education process.
-Electronic tests via the blackboard.
- Varied quiz methods
-Open book examinations
-Oral tests via e-learning systems.
-Presentations and posts via virtual classes.
-Online Assignments, homework, and activities.
-Discussion Board
-E - portfolio
-Research projects.
- Home exams
-The semester’s work is to count for 80% of the total grade, except for courses of special nature that are determined by the councils of the departments and colleges concerned.
- Learning Management system, or official faculty member email, are used to receive and evaluate assessments.
-Colleges are to post student scores before Thursday 8/30/1441 AH, to allow students enough time for any withdraw decisions .
-Courses that do not require final examination , such as (field training, internship programs , etc ) are evaluated based on the course required hours.
- Courses that only require a final exam , such as graduation projects , the requirements of these courses are to continue according to the course instructor and the approval of the department and college council.
Third : Final Examinations
- Final examinations and assessments are to be held virtually, starting on the 3rd of Ramdan 1441Ah, according to the academic calendar approved by the Royal Court.
-Final assessment and examination will count for 20% of the total grade, with the exception of some courses in health and medical colleges, which have a certain system of grading.
-The duration of the electronic assessments / final exams is one hour for each exam.
Fourth: Withdrawal
-It is permissible to withdraw from a course, or a number of courses (for students of bachelor and diploma levels at community colleges), until Thursday 30/8/1441 AH.
-In the case of withdraw, the course hours attended by a student will not count as part of the students academic course plan not will a student receive university monthly allowance.
Fifth: Examination Entry Denial
-The exempt of all students from any examination final entry denial for this semester.
-In the need of any assessments to enter the final examinations, they will take place before the start of the final examination season.
Sixth: Estimates and GPA
-The Grade analyzing feature for the current semester will activated automatically by the Deanship of Admission to serve GPA calculation. Students GPA are to remain the same for the current semester unless a higher a GPA is achieved.
-The current semester GPA will not be included in the calculation of the student's academic probation - warring - suspension.
-For the Pass / Fail courses that do not provide grades, students are allowed the option to choose between monitoring a grade (pass / fail ) or calculating the rate according to the set system before 8/30/1441AH, this decision doesn’t include first level medical students.
A system of grades is approved for all courses for Medical students in joint programs, and student are advised to withdraw from one or more courses or excuse themselves from the semester if he / she desires.
Seventh : Part Time Student
-Students are assigned to take one exam or the equivalent of other assessment methods for each course (such as: assignments, open book exams, home examination, etc.) at the end of the semester.
-The test score is 100.
- Student official e-mail is used to receive assignments , or any means that the college deems appropriate.
-Part time student examinations are to begin on Saturday 8/18/1441 AH. If the examination conditions do not serve part time students , students are offered an incomplete grade or an extension later according to the university regulations .
Eighth: Special Procedures:
-With regard to practical subjects in some colleges (science, engineering, home economics, and the like), assessments are used to measure students ’achievement in experimental concepts, in addition to pre-registering conditions
-The university Higher Committee to follow up on e-learning, appreciates the difficulties facing specific programs, such as: Bachelor’s of Medicine and Surgery programs and other medical colleges, in terms of teaching and evaluating and the difficulties in conducting them electronically, in light of these conditions college councils have reached the decision to postpone exams until after the completion of the practical and clinical requirements.
-Fees are carried over to the next semester for students who withdraw from the current semester for “ fee-paid programs”.
-Colleges continue to conduct postgraduate scholarly thesis examinations remotely.
-Colleges may take any appropriate actions to postpone the examination at the doctoral level, so that the examination is held at a later time and according to the available conditions.
Due to the nature of postgraduate programs, the necessary requirements are presented to relevant councils to study and decide on them.
