On November 19, 2018, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, May Allah protect him, delivered his annual policy speech at the opening of the third year of the Shoura Council's seventh session. Part and parcel of His Royal Majesty's address to the council was a review of internal and external policies, which serve as guidelines for the Shoura Council's deliberations. Also, HRM King Salman detailed the rapid progress the Kingdom has made based on programs undertaken in accordance with Vision 2030.

His Excellency King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Falleh R. M. Al-Solamy, subsequently issued a statement in concurrence with HRM King Salman's remarks to the council. Rector Al-Solamy noted that education plays an integral part in the fundamental transformations and socioeconomic development of the Kingdom pursuant to Vision 2030. This strategic vision, he explained, will set the stage for a brighter future for all citizens in the Kingdom. Rector Al-Solamy wholeheartedly agreed with HRM King Salman's proclamation that the Kingdom's youth – both male and female – plays a vital role in this grand and transformative development process. The rector further noted that this lengthy process would entail a great deal of hard work and ingenuity by the Kingdom's youth. The rector is confident that the young citizens are up to the challenge to achieve long-term sustainable growth. Young Saudis will be both the drivers and the beneficiaries of forward-thinking policies and technical developments.

His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy reiterated that HRM King Salman's recognition that a substantial number of the objectives have already been achieved, and many others are well on their way to completion. The rector further concurred that this long-term blueprint for a brighter and sustainable future is founded upon:

  • A balanced budget;
  • Higher efficiency through systemic transparency;
  • Sustainable economic growth;
  • A commitment to advance shared economic interests.

These fundamental policies in conjunction with advanced education and economic opportunities will help propel the Kingdom to a bright and well-deserved future.

Rector Al-Solamy further explained that the university would continue to support His Royal Majesty's top priority of bolstering and empowering the private sector by working closely and diligently with all of the appropriate stakeholders. 'We will continue to support plans and programs to reduce unemployment to acceptable levels. We have directed the Council for Economic Affairs and Development to focus on developing human capabilities and preparing the new generation for future jobs,” said HRM King Salman as reported by the Saudi Press Agency. At the end of Rector Al-Solamy's address, he noted that the university has supported and will continue to support His Royal Majesty's wise foreign policy objective of building bridges through diplomacy.
