On the 7^th of Rabīʿ Al-Awwal, the Deanship of Scientific Research held a workshop at the Lasaan Campus titled 'Basics of Creating Scientific Posters' delivered by Dr. Ahaad Jaruf from Umm Al- Qura University.

Vice Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Zehba Al-Ryzah, explained that the workshop is one of a series of weekly workshops offered by the deanship as part of the 'Developing Scientific Research Skills Program'. She emphasized that the program is under the aegis of the university rector and senior leadership's objective to provide a foundation for research in the university. The program aims to raise the level of scientific research performed at the university.

Al-Razya added that this workshop aims to identify and introduce the methods of creating scientific posters on a proper basis while improving the skills of faculty members and graduate students. It also encourages an increase of creative scientific posters that can be displayed at both domestic and international symposia.

Dr. Ahaad Jaruf discussed the characteristics of an academic model poster, introducing the style of writing, colors, images, and graphics to presenting a topic, noting that an academic poster delivers a summary of what a research paper holds. She also explained the uses of scientific posters in seminars, conferences, and talks.

Jaruf discussed the importance of scientific posters in summarizing papers and allowing viewers the opportunity to discuss new topics and exchange prospectives. Then, she displayed poster designs and sizes and spoke about the common questions that may revolve around posters in conferences, seminars, and symposia.

At the end of the workshop, Jaruf stressed the importance of poster design in attracting viewers and the common mistakes that occur in posters.
