The Role of Educational Institutions in Achieving Intellectual Security Workshop

The Intellectual Awareness Unit organized a workshop that focused on the leaders and supervisors of student activity clubs. The Role of Educational Institutions in Achieving Intellectual Security Workshop was conducted at the iT administration in the main campus.

The unit hosted the National Advisor of intellectual Security, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Halil, who presented an overview of intellectual security and its importance. He pointed to the method of promoting and strengthening the concept of intellectual security by activating the role of social development institutions towards the cause and highlighting the social responsibility they hold and their contribution towards it.

Al-Halil discussed five essential aspects during the workshop:

  • Intellectual security and its relation to national security;
  • The origins of extremism and violence;
  • The historical background and nefarious factors of extremism and violence;
  • The indicators of intellectual deviation;
  • Methods to address the phenomena of extremism and violence.

Deputy Supervisor of the Intellectual Security Unit, Dr. Misfer Al-Wadai, explained that workshop comes within the unit's mission and focus on intellectual security, the role of educational institutions, and protecting employees from the dangers of the internet.

It is worth mentioning that the workshop is part of the Intellectual Awareness Program, which is a collaborative effort between the Intellectual Security Unit and the Deanship of Student Affairs.
