Scholar Visitation Program Launch

On the 29th of Muharram, King Khalid University hosted the 'Scholar Visitation Program'. The guest of honor, His Excellency Sheikh Saad bin Nasser Al-Shathri, met with His Excellency King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Falleh R. M. Al-Solamy, at the main university campus. Rector Al-Solamy commenced the program by welcoming the guest of honor and the other participants. Sheikh Al-Shathri thanked Rector Al-Solamy and the other participants for their hospitality and warm welcome.

The university rector praised the partnership between the General Secretariat Council of Senior Scholars and King Khalid University. The rector also stressed the importance of this partnership program, which is designed to move the Kingdom forward while simultaneously protecting society from the global dangers and the vicissitudes of harmful outside influences.

Sheikh Al-Shathri reiterated the importance of the partnership and then delivered a lecture in which he thoroughly explained the importance of the study of and adherence to Islamic principles. He also provided specific guidance on the various approaches to interpreting and fulfilling correct and proper Islamic doctrine.

Also participating in the lecture was the supervisor of the Intellectual Awareness Unit, Prof. Yahya Al-Bakri. He led the well-attended talk in which he reviewed the methodologies of examining original Islamic sources including the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah. He also highlighted the ways reliable scholars represent and spread the blessed teachings Islam. Sheikh Al-Shahtri also cautioned the audience against placating those that mistakenly or fraudulently misrepresent the motives and or teaching of scholars in the Kingdom. He also noted that our people must remain loyal and faithful to Islamic principles despite the intentions of the nefarious - who hide in the shadows and spread falsehoods - attempting to undermine Sharia law and the Islamic faith. Al-Shathri pointed out that faculty members play a critical role in protecting the students from misconceptions and deceptions and strengthening their Islamic values and ethics.

The 'Scholar Visitation Program' aims to expand and strengthen the lines of communication between and among senior scholars, Saudi youth, and the general population.
