Human Rights and Sustainable Development Seminar Held

King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized a seminar entitled "Human Rights and Sustainable Development" in cooperation with the Human Rights Branch of Asir that coincided with the Arab Day for Human Rights.

At the beginning of the seminar, His Excellency the Rector, Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, delivered a welcoming speech stressing the importance of raising human rights awareness. He also added that "King Khalid University always strives to partner with all government sectors in the region, especially when in the interest of the community, and the goodwill of its students."

He also pointed out that the university seeks to emphasize the importance of human rights through its intention to organize an international conference in cooperation with the Arab Center for Human Rights.

He concluded by thanking the Human Rights Organization in Asir for organizing this symposium. He also thanked the Deanship of Student Affairs for hosting the seminar, which witnessed the participation of a number of representatives from numerous governmental departments in Asir.

Director of the Human Rights Branch in Asir, Mr. Bandar Aleyani, praised the role of the University in hosting this important symposium. "The theme of this symposium on human rights and sustainable development comes from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Royal Majesty's King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness's the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman keenness and constant concern for human rights."

Aleyani also thanked His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz for his continuous support to the Asir branch. Adding that: ”We always strive in the human rights body to spread awareness in society, to attain the culture of human rights that works to protect human rights from transgression, to achieve the desired goals of the country, and to protect and attain the rights of citizens and residents in our society."

The seminar focused on four themes: the concept of human rights and sustainable development, elements of sustainable development, the emergence of the right to sustainable development, and finally human rights and sustainable development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
